I met Michelle in a 6-month Granta memoir writing course online. Afterwards, she and I and another member of the class started a monthly writing group to critique each others' memoir projects. Michelle's feedback has been immensely helpful. She doesn't shy away from the difficult questions (yet is always encouraging) and gives helpful suggested assignments for our writing between sessions. I imagine she would make a fantastic book coach!

I connected with Michelle Cutler over LinkedIn and I was initially impressed with her writing samples, but when I spoke to her over zoom, I immediately loved her personality…she was professional, enthusiastic, a great listener, and has a good sense of humor. Shortly after, I recommended her to a good friend of mine, who was searching for a screenwriter who could tell his father's story in a way that would not only be unique, but could also understand and convey what an impact this man (who passed away) had on so many people in his community. There was so much information and different angles/perspectives we could go with the story. Michelle not only became interested in his story, but was very passionate and personally invested in it. She wanted to review all the archival footage, articles, and photos about this man, as well as hear all about his back story and the town. You could tell that she did thorough research before each meeting. She took incredible notes, jotted down a slew of great anecdotes, asked good questions.

Michelle is always so detail oriented and wants to make sure she has all the dates and timelines correct. She is meticulous about the sequence of events and how important each is to the story. When interviewing people, she makes them feel comfortable, and listens intently. I would highly recommend Michelle for any “based on a true story” projects.
