After receiving major revisions on a paper, I hired Aure after they were recommended by a friend. I'd not worked with an editor before, but the feedback I received on the paper was extensive and the project really meaningful and a bit outside the box so I wanted to make sure I got it right. I was a bit nervous because I was paying out of pocket, but it ended up being worth every penny and, because of Aure's speed and expertise, ended up costing less than I'd anticipated.
I can't recommend Aure's services highly enough. Mine was a solo project and I was having a hard time getting out of the details. Aure's feedback allowed me to tell the stories I wanted to tell and clearly articulate (and name) the broader contribution. They also read through all the reviews, and provided advice on navigating the comments.
Finally, they're really great to work with—they were kind, encouraging, and communicative, which is really important since asking for feedback and having your work edited is kind of a vulnerable place to be in. I found their feedback very clear, but they were also really quick to respond to any emails and open to a zoom call if that would have been most helpful.
The paper ended up getting accepted, but even if it hadn't, I would have been happy with the outcome.
