My son's experience working on his high school application essays with Active Voice Seminars was great. David really helped him with creating an organized plan, finding his voice, and making sure his points were clear and compelling. Further the weekly meetings and the goals David set kept him on task so my son had plenty of time to craft essays he felt proud of and completed everything well in advance of the deadline which kept stress levels in our house down. It is also incredibly helpful to have an "objective" (non-parent) reader/editor. My son was thrilled with the outcome of his application process and we are very grateful to David for the pivotal role he played in making that happen.

David is the best! My oldest son was fortunate to have David as his English teacher in middle school and he learned how to write so much that year. I still have the poem he wrote in that class pinned up so I can see it daily. Then my younger son took Active Voice Seminar last fall for the high school applications. David has an organized, step by step program that helps students generate ideas, polish their writing, and most of it - makes it FUN so that they are excited to work on their writing! David continued to work with my son until my son was happy with his work. It was a wonderful experience. David’s high school essay writing seminar was so helpful to our daughter and to us as parents! David helped to de-mystify the process and guided our daughter in how to break down the personal narrative into themes by highlighting key experiences and thee individual personality traits that make her unique. David provided very pointed feedback which helped our daughter to refine her essays and build confidence that she could get through what felt like a monumental task. David helped our son with school essays and his College Application essay. David really learns about his students, which is essential part of the college essay writing process as he can give focused feedback and help the student find their voice. David manner of guiding was upbeat and our son never complained about having sessions after a busy day at school, he found it helpful and productive. David was very communicative and helped on last minute requests. His range of hours was pretty extensive. Prior to Covid David had both in person and Zoom tutoring, our son used both and didn't feel the remote communication lessen the value at all and he preferred the ease of just talking from his room. Our son got into his top choice school and there is no doubt the essay was a big part of that. David's tutoring and feedback were a big part of the essay process, and he also helped keep everything on track. Like most teens, our son was more receptacle to advice from a professional than from his parents, and David's guidance is much more informed and helpful than anything we could provide.

David's seminars were impactful! My daughter gained great insight into the process of writing, but more importantly, came away with a real interest in writing. My son looked forward to the writing seminar every Sunday. We never had to worry about his essays for high school. He worked on them with David and did minor tweaking on his own.
