In the last two years of working with Krista, I have repeatedly given her the benefit of the doubt. Through delays in publication, weeks and months with no communication, and overall unpleasant messages from her, I have sought to be positive and hopeful. But I now see you cannot reason with or be empathetic towards an unethical person. I truly do not like posting negative reviews, but I only say this because writers are so excited and they carry the dream of publishing their book so close to their hearts. I would hate to see any more aspiring authors experience such deception and manipulation. Save yourself. Publish elsewhere. When Krista is "shocked and saddened" to read this, feel free to message me for a truthful account of life with East 26th.

Never work with Krista!
I illustrated for her for 2 and a half months and wasn't paid a dime!
We agreed on a price and signed a contract, in which she was to pay me half of the money upfront. She didn't. I kept working because I had worked with her once in the past and didn't have any issues, so I thought I could trust her.

I sent her email after email asking that she send over the first payment, and she answered with excuse after excuse, or sometimes simply didn't reply at all. Then after almost three months had passed, she told me that the book was canceled because the author could not afford to pay her anymore. She said that because of that, she could only pay me a laughable amount and not anywhere near what was agreed upon. In the end she didn't pay even that amount.

I reached out to the author and found out that she has been outright lying to both of us. What had really happened was that she agreed on a price with the author as well, and after it was signed asked for more money than was agreed upon. The author wisely didn't agree to that.
To make things even more infuriating - she told the author that she had already paid me.

Do not ever work with her! It seems her strategy is to have one project go off without a hitch to make people trust her, but then when they already trust her, to screw them over as much as she can.

Update: I have just Recieved an email from her saying she would pay me less than we agreed upon if I removed my review. Literally blackmail at this point.

Working on my book with East 26th Publishing was a wonderful experience. Krista has been there every step of the way during every part of the publishing process. With her knowledge and experience I always felt educated and included in all of the facets of the process. I would absolutely recommend any writer to use East 26th Publishing! I put a lot of faith in Krista and her company with my first book in 2019. I paid upfront (which is not recommended by anyone, but I trusted her). My first book came out with a few hitches, which were all blamed on amazon (from her end).
As a new author, I trusted and signed on to publish my second book with East 26th not knowing what else to do. After paying another almost $2000, I experienced miscommunications, multiple delays in promised timelines, unprofessional messages, and a massive delay in (and lies regarding) royalty payments. When I thought it was just me experiencing these things, I only contacted BBB. But now I know these same actions and more have been documented by at least 8 other authors (and counting.) I put my trust, as an unknowing author, into this company… and it saddens me to say that what I was promised was no where near delivered. I have since cut ties, and am working with a real publisher now.

Don't do business with Krista Huber! She is nice, but once she gets your money all you will get is excuses. Research into her I found she has a history of doing this to customers & employers.
- Her reply is laughable, to date 1 year later she never provided ANY work product or refund, for the work NEVER completed. I am not alone, there are many more she has done this to. Shame on you Krista, I will see you in COURT!
