Story Terrace did an outstanding job on my book. We are very pleased with the end product, hence 5 stars. Their business model provides an excellent framework and can support someone who is either prepared to do a lot of the prep leg work and drafting or would prefer to have the interviews and let the ghost writer pull the draft together from there. We were the former and wanted a writer with some business knowledge, and they accommodated that request.

Our writer was a good listener and an excellent interviewer - an excellent collaborator. He also knew what would make for a successful end product and guided us in that direction. And the StoryTerrace process with its gentle nudges kept us basically on schedule.

It was a lot of work. The process brought back a lot of long-forgotten memories. Getting them organized was no small feat, and our writer was very adept at that.

The final editing process was very straightforward. They repeatedly said "this is your book" and respected our edits. They efficiently turned around the several rounds of edits. And the quality of the finished book meets our expectations, and more.

Storyterrace was absolutely wonderful to work with! I had a great experience and I’m sure I wasn’t an easy client. The task was daunting: a book about my 89 year old father-in-law and his 5 daughters. (The finished book ended up at 189 pages with 40 photos) My project manager, Xiaofang Ma helped me find the perfect writer, Sarah Carter. Sarah wrangled many hours of interviews with all the family members with grace, insight and patience, to create a narrative that was compelling and thorough. They held to their schedule and communicated clearly and frequently. Any delays in the process were due to me, and the editing process. Even then, their guidance and support (nudges) kept the project on track, even when I was unable to keep up my end of the schedule. I appreciated their involvement (as opposed to other personal book publishers which seem more passive.) Sure, it is a little pricey compared to others, but this was a premium experience for a premium project. What was captured about my family, in a book that will last for generations, made the entire experience worth it.

Tilly the editor was my support from the start to end and no words can express how efficiently and seamlessly she held my hand at every step of the way and helped me. She jumped right in and changed my English where she felt improvement was required.

They are so efficient and helpful. Tilly responded every email of mine on the same day for all 9 months.

It was hard at times as it seemed like homework with deadlines but it all got done so swiftly and a beautiful book arrived at my doorstep flawless.

Our family had a great experience with StoryTerrace, particularly Michele our project manager and editor, and Jenny our writer. They were both very friendly and easy to work with, and also so professional when it came to putting together a really quality product. The bookmaking program is really easy to use on our end to do things like read drafts and add photos. Michele did a great job of keeping us on track with timelines, while also being flexible to our multiple storytellers and needing a little extra time here & there when life happened. Jenny did a great job translating all our stories from multiple family members into a cohesive, well-written book that we will cherish forever. I can't recommend doing this enough, the experience and end product is priceless.

I would have to say overall that StoryTerrace delivered what it said it would.
We were connected to a wonderful writer, Marge Brown, who was able to connect with the women in the book in such a way that the book captured the essence of their personalities and will be cherished by family for years to come. Marge also made sure that the three women, 84, 88, & 89 years old respectively, were comfortable with the process and she confirmed their information in a friendly and reassuring manner. In addition, she took the time to visit with me, the organizer of this adventure, to make sure that what she was writing would be what I wanted the book to be...I appreciate the additional guidance and clarification through the writing process.
For our editor, we were under the guidance of Michele Vrouvas, who is incredible. If ever I had a question, she would answer it in a timely manner, sometimes by email and many times by a phone call to clarify what was going on and what I had to do to make the book everything that I needed it to be. I do appreciate her calm demeanor when I was frustrated with the process and wanted something quickly. Michele always did her best to accommodate me and to guide me to the right answers. Through the process I have learned that before beginning such a process, be sure to have patience, because the StoryTerrace staff are willing to go the extra mile to make your project wonderful.
All in all I would highly recommend this company based on my experience with the writer and the editor...Kudos to you both.

My son gave me a present of writing my life story with a help of StoryTerrace. The process was very easy - you get a editor (in my case it was Michele Vrouvas, who asks you very questions and matches you with a writer. You can go through their website and read many samples of different writing and see what is the best match for your story. My selection was Lusine Khachatryan. We met several times , she recorded my story, we went over the story line in great details and then the book was born. I wanted it to sound like my voice, so the editor gave me an excess to the work-file and I went over every sentence to make it more like it was written by me. The overall result was wonderful. Its a lovely book, filled with photos, memories, something for my kids and grand-kids to pass to the next generations. I would love to have books written by my grandparents and their parents, but unfortunately I only have verbal stories passed thought the generations and who knows how many times their were altered in a process. Now my grandkids will have something that is told by me. I really appreciate what Story Terrace is doing and very grateful to Michele and Lusine to making my story come alive. They both did wonderful job holding my hand through the process and seeing it to completion.

Story Terrace took my down payment for a book. The writer ghosted my family member. Customer service did not help me with a reasonable solution. They took my deposit and refused to give me a refund or assign a new writer. They said if I wanted to continue with the project I would need to pay a restart fee. Bad business practices and very unprofessional staff. Would not recommend.
