My experience with Pine Book Publishing was unique. The publishing process stood out to me, as this is where this company shines. Once the process begins, an expert is assigned to you and will work diligently to finish your project. Lia was my expert and we corresponded for a few months, She was very focused until the project was finished, and communicated every necessary detail every step of the way.
Those located in The States should note that companies from abroad often focus more on accuracy and detail while American companies emphasize customer service. One should be aware of this subtle cultural difference. Publishing is a very detailed process, and if one chooses a publishing company to publish a book, Pine Book Writing is exactly what it should be. I posted on my facebook page that I had finished writing my book and Pine Book Writing commented and actively and aggressively offered their services. I decided to give them a chance. It wasn’t quite the experience I had expected. This was my first book so I was new to the whole process. They went through things a little too fast for me. The lady I was assigned to did not speak very good English. I had a hard time understanding her and at times she had a hard time understanding me. My book is a book of poetry. Many of my poems rhyme. They changed a word in two of my poems. They were key rhyming words so the poems did not flow the way they should have. They didn’t even ask me if it was ok to change them. My book was published on Amazon with several punctuation mistakes, a table of contents that had page numbers that did not take you to the appropriate poem and two messed up poems. After I had already told my friends and family that it was active and available on Amazon, my book had to be taken off Amazon to be fixed. I had already ordered quite a few books. Fortunately I was able to cancel that order but a couple of my friends had already received theirs and they were the messed up ones. They (Pine Book Writing) asked for my log info for my Amazon account and my Google account so they could publish my book. They kept my account logged in on their devices when I specifically asked them not to. They were on my accounts after hours (3 am) Their IP address was not from Canada it was from Karachi Pakistan and another device they logged into my account with was a Galaxy J7 Pop phone. A passkey was set up on my Google account (face recognition or fingerprint) I have had that account for 14 years and I have never set up any kind of passkey or had any strange devices logged into my account. When I logged out the Karachi Pakistan the lady from Pine Book texted me saying she had just been logged out of my account. This proves that it was them. Also when the lady was logged into my Google account she deleted some of my emails that showed she was doing stuff on my account (like the passkey) 3 times I moved them from my trash back to my inbox and each time they were sent back to my trash. I texted her a 3 am and asked her why she was on my account after hours when she had told me that we would get it set up on Monday. She said she had her laptop with her so she decided to work on it. It all had me very nervous. If that wasn’t enough they actually wanted me to give them control of my computer but I refused. The final finished book is nice but after a lot of stress and inconvenience. I personally will not be publishing my next book with them. It was not a good experience all especially being my first experience.
