I’m giving Advent Ocala 2 stars only because of the incredible nursing staff and support team — truly some of the kindest, most compassionate individuals I’ve ever encountered. The rooms were also very clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated during my stay.

However, my overall experience was deeply disappointing. I was hospitalized for nearly five days and discharged just as sick as I was when I was admitted. Despite being on the maternity floor, I was not seen by an OBGYN because Advent doesn’t consider my pregnancy far enough along, so I was under the care of an internal medicine doctor instead. While the doctor was polite and tried multiple medications, they eventually admitted they had run out of options. Upon discharge, I was told I’d likely be back soon because my condition hadn’t improved.

Sure enough, less than two days later, I was in the ER at UF Shands. While the wait time there was brutal (13 hours before I was seen), they ultimately saved my life. I ended up being admitted for five days with them as well. The biggest difference? At Shands, I was seen by a high-risk OBGYN and received specialized care that made all the difference. They also used an ultrasound machine to find veins after multiple failed IV attempts — something Advent Ocala said they couldn’t do. At Advent, I went through 17 IVs that all blew; at Shands, once they used the ultrasound machine, the issue was resolved.

I cannot stress this enough: I would only return to Advent Ocala in the most extreme of emergencies, and only if Shands were absolutely not an option. I sincerely hope Advent re-evaluates how it handles maternity patients in early pregnancy and invests in tools and protocols that prioritize patient care at all stages.

Great hospital, employees(Nirses) pretty friendly. Out of all the hospitals I have to say is our number one choice. The only complaint that I have is that, we waited way to long for a room. People shouldn’t have to wait hours to get a room/admitted. I FEEL LIKE THEY WANTED THE CLOCK TO RUN FOR BILLING PURPOSE, ADMIN AND WHOEVER MAKES THE DECISIONS INCLUDING DR’s. Be honest and quicker on getting your patients into a room for emergency and upstairs when they are admitted, THANK YOU!!

PS: I WOULD HAVE GIVEN 5 stars but there’s too much time wasted!

All staff and doctors were very nice. If you called for a nurse, it didn't take them long to get to you. Some of the food was good and some of it i didn't like. The Physical Theropist was really nice too. We started walking down the hallway and he said to me, you don't need me, you're doing fantastic. Sorry I don't have any pics to share.

I had her leisure being on the fifth floor, comma it was pleasure. The nurses there on all shifts were fantastic. They listen and they truly care some stood out above the rest, but I was never treated incorrectly never. So if you end up there just now, they were very sweet very knowledgeable very understanding. Those nurses Work very hard to make you happy. Oh, that’s something that I had to look forward to there I honestly feel that the nursing staff goes above and beyond. Again, thank you Floor 5. You’re all Outstanding in my book. Even the technicians that took care of Me.
Thank you advance for the good meals, problem is to the chef and never failed you even if you don’t like the type of diet that you put on ha ha and all the doctors same.

The staff from the moment we walked through the door was very helpful. Then when I got back in the surgery area the nurses and Dr. ‘s were wonderful. They explained everything and put my mind at ease. I would definitely recommend Advent Hospital! Thank you for taking excellent care of me.

My darling husband Tony, of 41 years, was admitted to Advent hospital for one whole week. He was very sick. The advent staff from the ER to the rooms on the floors (he was in 3 different rooms) was wonderful. We are Jehovah Witnesses, and we were treated with the utmost respect, and caring. All the nurses and CNA staff were very helpful. The different groups, like, infectious disease, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Blood specialists, were all very thorough, and kind. Tony was well taken care of. Advent Health Hospital in Ocala, Florida is outstanding.

We came into the E Room and my husband stayed for 20 days. He had surgery by an excellent surgeon, stayed in ICU for 13 days and on the 4th floor until released to Rehab. The care was very good; some nursing staff was excellent while others were ok. The food served was very good for hospital food. Some really cared for my husband and even for my well-being. If we had to go to a hospital again, I would choose AdventHealth Ocala.

My daughter had outpatient surgery and the staff was excellent so kind and polite to her and her Dr was the best I've ever seen and the nurses were magnificent. This is the best hospital I have ever been to I wish I had came here for my heart surgery. I rate the whole experience 100%satisfied. Thanks so much everyone
