I was so excited for this consultation, this was my first time reaching out to a publisher and immediately you can feel the tension. I shared my notes, offered to email them over for her to review, I have photo visuals (I am wanting to create a very visual book, this is not easy to explain over the phone! I’m doing everything I possibly can to get some insight or assistance from this woma, but she’s nothing but condescending and rude .

Isn’t the point of a consultation to navigate where we want to go with this? I was even interested in a ghost writer, but apparently that’s too “expensive” EVEN THOUGH I AM INTERESTED IN THAT SERVICE. “Did you even read our website?” Just because I was asking questions.

Very snooty about how amazing their company is. No thank you, I’ll take my services elsewhere. Spent the consultation arguing. Thanks for nothing and killing my inspiration, some publishing company you guys are. It’s one thing to turn down my ideas, I wouldn’t have been offended.. it’s another to be a jerk about it. Do better!

Spoke with Milli Brown, she asked that I mail in my grandfather’s memoirs so someone could read it. That was October, 2023. I have been waiting and waiting only to find out her company has lost my copy of the memoirs. I FedEx’d my copy over and they have no recollection. I highly recommend you follow up and hold their hand if you’re going to do any type of business with them.

We first went to Brown Publishing over a year ago to begin the process of publishing my daughter's novel. Everyone that we have come in contact with at Brown has been very knowledgeable and professional. My family and I learn new things all the time about the publishing world. If you think you - or someone close to you - has a manuscript you think is worth publishing, you need professionals to take you by the hand and walk you through the process. We could save a little money and self-publish; but in my opinion, I don't think self-publishing is the best way to go. If I need someone to work on my car, I hire a professional; even though I "might" be able to figure it out on my on with enough studying. But I'd rather not.
