I'm thrilled I selected Columbus Publishing Lab to publish my book! This was my first book and I had no idea what I was doing. I had selected another publisher but when I was completed with line/developmental editing, I learned the publisher didn't allow Creative Commons or any prior published works to be part of their newly published works. Then, in the process of finding a new publisher, I learned how much publishers censored! I was happy to find CPL who encouraged me to find an editor who let me tell my story (and mine did!). CPL did my proofreading, interior formatting, and cover design. They formatted 100 pictures! They did fantastic and was always available to answer questions and keep me up-to-date. They stayed with me through the distribution!

Though I'm experienced with writing and editing, publishing my own work was a new process. I couldn't have made a better choice than to go with Columbus Publishing Lab. I appreciated every aspect of working with the owner, Emily -- she is knowledgeable, professional and a great communicator. Doug made book design less formidable and I benefited from his creative talent and technical skills. With both I always felt heard and part of a team with a common goal: my book. And the best version of my book it could be. I wasn't disappointed. I'll work with them again as soon as I have a new book in me and I recommend them with no hesitation.

I worked with Emily and Columbus Publishing Lab to publish my first book in 2021. Emily was so patient, helpful, and transparent about the whole process. Once we learned each other's work/communication styles and expectations it felt like things flowed well from step to step. I especially loved that I got to keep creative control of my work, cover art included! If I decide to publish again, I will definitely use Columbus Publishing Lab again.

I’ve been a detail-oriented commercial illustrator for over 30 years, who has recently assumed the mantle of writing and illustrating children’s books. My attention to detail follows through to the printing end of the job as well. I’ve been with Columbus Publishing Lab now for two and a half years, and I can tell you their quality and attention to detail is second to none. They not only meet but exceed my high expectations of quality on many levels, which allows me more time to create my books instead of worrying about the printing! They’ve been up front with me every step of the way and their print pricing has been great. Plus, I make more profit per book than with other publishers I’ve dealt with in the past. My partnership with CPL has been excellent and I plan to produce many more books with them in the future! Grazie!

As a book editor, it is crucial to have a deep level of trust with my publisher. This is truly what I have with Emily Hitchcock, the owner of Columbus Publishing Lab. When I submit a finished manuscript to her, I am confident that she and her talented team will produce a beautiful book. Their attention to detail is stellar, as is their close communication with authors and editors.

Emily handles Zoom conferences so professionally. She is thorough in answering every question about the publishing process. Moreover, she does it in such a personable way.

Each time I begin editing a new manuscript, I assure the author that he or she will be thrilled with the interior lay-out and the front and back covers. That has proven to be the case time and time again. I highly recommend Columbus Publishing Lab. I can't imagine working with anyone else but Emily and her staff. I appreciate their expertise so much.

I'd dreamed of being an author since I was 8-years-old. This company made that happen. When you go into publishing a book keep two things in mind. First, if it's a children's book, expect that it will take more time. My first book was and we went over the time estimation by about 3 months. This was to be sure the illustrations were perfect and the wait was well worth it. My illustrator was through Columbus Publishing Lab, too. It was a one stop shot for everything I needed for this book. The second thing to keep in mind is that this company does have several clients. This is a great sign of their workmanship. With that being said, if you call you may not get a call back that day. Email is best here and if you must speak to someone on the phone it will be set up quickly.

In my time with Columbus Publishing Lab I published two books. The children's book and also a poetry book. What you pay is well worth the finished product, I believe. Further, they want you to do well as an author, so they teach you how to do so and help you with marketing your book after publication. About a year and a half after my first book was published I ventured out on my own to Amazon KDP. Columbus Publishing Lab supported my decision. I kept my hardback version of one book with them, however the E-Book and paperback versions of both books I transferred. The team at Columbus Publishing Lab helped me upload the books to Amazon correctly, too. Even though I was their client and they were making money off my books sold with them, they supported me through all of this. Further, if I've had any questions along the way since I've been able to ask Emily and Doug.

This company believes in bettering the author experience when publishing their book, be it their 1st or their 10th. I continue to be impressed by them to this day. I've enjoyed working with Emily most of all. She's been in the publishing space a long time, which makes her a wonderful teacher to learn from. She's a great balance of professional and friend. I'm thrilled that Brad left this company in her hands and can't wait to see where she takes it.
