Courtyard San Diego Del Mar/Solana Beach

I am a titanium elite member in Marriott and have stayed in multiple properties. What stood out at this hotel was hospitality. Spl reference to property manager Mr Chris who went out of way to ensure the stay was comfortable. Made us feel welcome and his attitude was addictive. Something for all property managers to emulate. Will highly recommend both location, room cleanliness and hospitality aspect.

This is a great hotel. I regret leaving the hot for a different hotel closer to the city. Clean, quiet and comfortable. I didn't give four stars because the rooms are a tiny bit worn.

I have yet to arrive here, but the staff is amazing via my phone conversations. They are so friendly and very personable. Chris was very professional, willing to help and went above and beyond with my changes even before arrival. I can't wait to come and stay at this property. Great Job! Lori H

Stay at the Holiday Inn next door. I'm not sure what's happened to the Marriott Brand over the years but this hotel is yet another reminder that there are other places to stay that are nicer - and cheaper. The rooms - I was very specific about needing a quiet room and was assured that the ground level room 146 was great. When I walked in, it felt like a cavernous, cold, dark environment with a sliding door to the courtyard. The laminate floors did not have a single carpet and the odd bathroom, with its cold tile floor, was also absent any sort of bathroom rug. The end result - I had to use towels (that I had to call for every day) as bath mats because the room and floor were freezing. The paint is chipped and the furniture is old. Do you use a smart phone or tablet? You're not going to be able to charge your device on the night stand because they haven't bothered to upgrade the lamps to today's technology. So, bring a USB extension or whatever you need to make sure you can have your gadgets next to you. Do you use a computer? Good lucking plugging yours in. There are NO practical electrical outlets for a computer or phone or extension cord anywhere near the "desk". You're going to have to unplug the heater wall unit (charming and never worked) to plug in your laptop - hoping you don't get electrocuted. Good news - you can plug your USB cord into the tall lamp in the corner that's about 10 feet away from your bed. The couch in the room that converts to a bed also has USB ports - but again - you won't find any near the bed itself. Chipped walls. Sad decor. No heat. Shabby curtains. Sad "patio" furniture. Oh my. Do you like hot water with your shower? Then re-think your idea of hot because the water was lukewarm most days (I spent 8 abysmal nights in this environment and lukewarm became my new normal). Do you like peace and quiet? There were multiple sports teams staying at the hotel and the teens were running through the hallways until 11PM, screaming at the pool until 1030PM, and not a single person at the hotel could manage the situation. Security didn't help. I guess when you're getting money from so many, the concerns of a few guests all on deaf ears. Does a ground floor room with direct access to the courtyard sound sexy? Just remember that NONE of the rooms have carpet - so you will hear every single step, bang, shift, snort, and stomp over your head in the room above while you're in your room. You'll also hear every screaming child or teen staying over your head. The hallways are dim, the decor is old, there's a tiny coffee maker in the room but no bottles of complimentary water. There are ZERO amenities. ZERO. And you're paying quite a bit. You can grab a coffee or whatever from the "Starbucks Cafe" in the courtyard and I admit the food was tasty - but again you're going to pay. I suggest that if you stay at this tragic "hotel", walk next door to the liquor store and get what you need for half the price. I'm not sure why anyone would stay in this hotel when there's a Holiday Inn next door with more charm and practical suites than this Marriott will ever have - stay elsewhere.

Excellent location, good service, VERY dated rooms and facility. This place could be great if they re-invested a little money into the facility. The tub in our room was probably the grossest tub that I have had at a Marriott property. The hot tub was the same temp as the pool. The AC unit in our room struggled to keep our room consistently cool at night even when turned down to the lowest temperature and would always run for 10 minutes, stop, then start back up. Whatever it did to stop and start was also quite loud. My interactions with the staff were positive. They received and held a set of golf clubs for us early and were friendly and helpful when I stopped by to ask for a couple extra towels. The location was great. Within walking distance of bars and restaurants and there's a public beach access almost right behind the hotel. A+ Location. Would consider staying here again because of location and service, but will probably check elsewhere first because of the poor quality of the room and facility.

The hotel is in an excellent location for access to major highways and the beach itself. The price point is reasonable. Also the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room though was not up to typical Marriott standards and dated. Lighting in the room was dismal and the bathroom small and shower a challenge. It didn’t drain well and Wes’s awkward to use.

First time staying here on a business trip, but will definitely be back. Room is huge, modern, clean, plenty of space to work. Sliding glass door opens to courtyard and restaurant/bistro onsite. A/c cooled the room nicely, good water pressure in shower, comfortable bed. Staff have all been excellent!

We love this place! Great location near beach and dining. The staff is fantastic…very friendly and welcoming. Chris, Jesus and Elizabeth at the front desk and the engineer,Candido, out did themselves. Highly recommend …my daughter and her family will be visiting in December. They can’t wait! We’ll be back soon!
