Huxley & Hiro Booksellers is a terrific, beautiful, clean, and very welcoming place. Many good books! Many goodies to explore and discover! Claire is fantastic. She and her co-founder Ryan work cohesively together to create a vibrant and cozy place to find books, browse, and to have great conversations on any topic. I was quite excited when I learned that Claire and Ryan opened a new local and independent bookstore in downtown Wilmington, Delaware! I love this place and I recommend this bookstore quite enthusiastically for every book lover!

An excellent local book store that, while relatively new, has quickly become a cornerstone of the city. Not only will they provide you solid book recommendations for the genre you are looking for, but they also host local artists and community events. Plus, their choice of restroom wallpaper is phenomenal. They are now my go-to bookstore. Do yourself a favor and support this gem on Market Street.

Fantastic LGBTQ+ bookstore! They are very helpful and their shelves align with many genres I’m interested in. I was surprised how well they categorize their inventory, I had the easiest time EVER finding what I wanted. Their bookstore “mascots” are super cute too, definitely a must visit!

Beyond happy that finally a wonderful bookstore has been opened in the Wilmington/Newark area!
I always complain about the fact that no good bookstores exist in Newark DE, despite it being a college town, and I was beyond happy when my friends (who are scholars and fellow bibliophiles themselves) told me about this place.
My friend and I hit H&H on a Saturday. I should mention that I am beyond happy that their hours go past 5 pm (at least open till 8 pm!) Which is amazing. Say you are coming back from your 9-5 job and on your walk home you decide to stop at a local bookstore that is home to not just books but a bunch of other cool and exotic items: card games, literary accessories and gifts, jewelry, funny/beautiful cards, artwork and more importantly, wonderful booksellers.
Claire (hoping I am spelling her name correctly) was not only beyond knowledgeable about her inventory of books, she was so fun to chat with about a variety of concepts. We talked about the Brontës vs. Austen battle, the Jane Austen society festivals in England where she used to live (and teach? She is a scholar herself), James Baldwin, the amazing new translation of the Old testaments, and so on. I then lost myself among the books, while she and the other amazing bookseller, Ryan, talked to my friend about the weird musical instruments of the old ages and the cultural differences between America and the Netherlands.
They also have a loyalty program that bith my friend and I immediately signed up for, happily. Not to mention their cosy environment, co fy chairs, beautiful blue facade and much more. I mean they have a comic book section for crying out loud :)))
Couldn't recommend more. Please go and support them so they can sustain their amazing business and mission!

Stopped in for the Grand Opening because we love a good independent book store. They have a great location on Market Street! Inside everything is nicely laid out. They have a wide variety of books. The staff is friendly. It's a great place to spend some time. Check them out!

I wanted to love this book store and have looked forward to visiting it ever since it opened. Well today a friend and I made the trip. The first part of our visit was fun! I saw several new books I owned and loved displayed on their shelves and I saw work from a favorite local artist displayed in the shop (hands down my favorite part of the visit)! Then just as I had decided to look at a new book on a different local artist, someone had come in to clean the bathroom, there was a strong smell of chemicals that filled the store and then a loud vacuum was run for 10 minutes or so. Both very distracting to a good shopping experience. The employee behind the desk was reading a book most of the time we were shopping (which isn't necessarily a bad thing in a book shop) but I did feel like I had to interrupt her to inquire abut the availability of books that I wanted to purchase but were not on the shelves.
I know the day after Christmas is not necessarily the day when your A team is working, however I was somewhat disappointed with my first visit. I'm a romantic about book stores and books and hope that my second visit to this shop proves to be much more enchanting.

Such a great find in downtown Wilmington! I thought this was going to be a detour in our hunt for a Delaware keychain, but we found one right here. The space is very welcoming and cozy, with so much personality, just an indie bookstore should be. Loved the displays and the recommendations found all around. The person who greeted and helped us was very sweet and friendly to all who entered. This may be the shop that brings us back to the area!
