Lake Sumter State College is a phenomenal learning institution. My granddaughter is taking business classes here in a classroom setting and online. I have taken some medical classes online dabbling with a possible career change. Everyone is helpful and cares about the education you receive no matter what level that is.

I’ve been calling nonstop for 2 days now, trying to get ahold of admissions or just ANYBODY. If it’s this difficult already just to ask about enrolling, then I can only imagine how it would be as a current student. A school with no communication is already a RED FLAG. 🚩 onto the next.

I haven't taken class there yet. But I can tell already that this school is not going to be helpful at all. I never applied for a college who you literally have to call over and over to get help. When a person finally picks up the phone you instantly hear the attitude in there voice. Makes you not want to even attend the school. I only picked this college because my job pays for it. I might one lady who was really helpful her name was Bethany. I had a meeting with the financial department he wasn't any help at all. I hope and pray. I have a better experience when classes start.As of now I don't care for the school.

I have been chipping away at my AA degree for a few years now. The advising staff are wonderful! The instructors are great too! The front desk staff are amazing! The reason I am giving TWO stars is because of the terrible financial aid office and lack of accountability. The financial aid staff make me feel like the biggest inconvenience to their day. They are condescending, unhelpful, and unprofessional. I have spoken with several financial aid staff members over the years and continuously have the same awful experience because they do not want to help but would rather complain about their job and even say not to call! Why is there even a phone number to speak with these people who do not care to treat students with decency and respect? We do not know all the answers and call for their expertise, but some are too busy eating snacks on the phone and treating me less-than for not knowing their job. Being in customer service, I should expect friendly and helpful staff on the phone and in person. I am almost done here but please, for the well-being of current and future students, require these staff attend customer service training ASAP if they are going to continue in public service, or better yet, hire new, kinder staff who care about students and their jobs. The current financial aid staff are giving Lake-Sumter State College a terrible reputation to the point I can no longer recommend my own college.

Enrolling at this college has been a nightmare, and withdrawing was even worse. They charge you money to withdraw and place a hold on your account from withdrawing until you pay them, and if you don't, they ruin your academic record.

The worst college I have ever attended! The professor failed me because I wasn't able to take the final because I was in the hospital for 2 weeks! I have proof I was in the hospital and submitted all the documents. His words were "This is online class I don't care if your grandmother died you get no do overs, no exception!" I was in the hospital very sick and absolutely no way to do the test. So now my GPA dropped significantly and I have to go through an appeal process!

Horrible college! They need to remove Sumter from the name they offer only classes for your first semester. The system uses for homework for math requires the math teaches to do nothing and of the classes taken so far they are getting paid to sit on there phone. As a student that never had anything lower than a B it is sure the educator is the problem. When approached with complaints you are told to write a letter to the bord of directors how ever a director is who i was speaking to. If you feel the need to blow money i can't find a better place to wast it then at this college. So far i have got more information from Google than any of these supposed educator who can't speak load enough to hear across the room. If this was any other business i would request a refund for lack of service however they take your money and shove it in to the front lawn and pond not adding to the useless Sumter school.
