Gabriel got me the gold! On December 9th, 2023 my dream of becoming a published author was realized, and my first novel was released. Last month (August 3rd 2024) my novel, Stones of the Earth won gold for content and silver for the cover in the FAPA (Florida Authors and Publishers Association) President’s Book Award contest! Gabriel and his team at Legacy are second to none! Gabriel did not compromise on quality or standards to rush the book to press. I was involved with every major decision and included in every step of the process. In addition to the FAPA awards, we were also a finalist for the DaVinci Eye Award and nominated for the Eric Hoffer Award. All three contests are national so, it’s safe to say the Gabriel’s work is able to get noticed on a national level. In addition to being a great publisher, Gabriel has been a wonderful advocate and helper to me as a first time author. I would highly recommend Gabriel and Legacy to anyone looking to launch out into the world of being a writer.

Gabriel Vaughn and Legacy Book Publishing provided me a published book in November 2020. Unfortunately, the book (Curveball at the Crossroads) was littered with typos, including three on the back cover. The cover was poorly designed and not to the level of other books. Lastly, when I opened my shipment of books, several copies had blank pages and misaligned pages in the middle of the book. I was completely embarrassed.

Even worse, as of 2022, Gabriel Vaughn has never paid me for any sales. Nor has he ever told me how many books, if any, I sold through his company.

So I reached out to a lawyer and we sued him. My lawsuit demanded four things: monies owned, a list of sales, that he de-list Curveball at the Crossroads off his website, and that he never sell my book again.

Most of the lawsuits against Gabriel Vaughn are for Breach of Contract. Gabriel Vaughn and Legacy Book Publishing is what is known as a “Vanity Publisher”. Gabriel Vaughn charges aspiring authors money to print their books. The authors get published by an actual publisher and avoid the stigma of self-publishing and Gabriel Vaughn gets paid without having the responsibility of selling any books.

Getting paid up front also reduces his incentive to print good products.

Fortunately, I still had the rights to my novel. I was able to reprint Curveball at the Crossroads in 2021. It is a better product with better editing, a much better cover, and is more widely available.

I doubt I will ever get my money from Gabriel Vaughn. He preys on the hopes and dreams of aspiring writers.

For future authors, never do business with this individual and this company.

I have had the experience of working with this company for a while now and it has proven to be most rewarding. As an author it is always beneficial to find a trustworthy publisher with a good reputation. I've known Gabriel and Legacy professionally for years now, and the reputation of the man and the company are both stellar. After my father’s passing, I came across countless poems and stories that my creative, witty and (previously unknown to me) deep-thinking father had written. As I read through his writings, which had been stashed away for decades in a rusty old filing cabinet, I decided to type up as many of these treasures as possible and share them with my siblings. My original plan was to then take the stack of typed poems and stories to an office supply store, photocopy and bind them, then gift them to my sisters and brother.

As my stack of typed pages increased, my husband suggested I compile Daddy’s writing into a book, suggesting it would be more meaningful and enduring. He assumed the task of finding a publisher, soon setting up a meeting with Gabriel Vaughn of Legacy Book Publishing. From our first meeting, we knew we had found the right person.

Gabriel is very creative and had a clear vision of what my book could look like. We talked about incorporating several copies of Daddy’s original handwritten and typewritten pieces along with the rekeyed text, as well as countless decades-old photographs, letters, newspaper clippings and commendations (also from the rusty old filing cabinet) to create a true “life and legacy” book rather than merely a book of his poetry and stories. Gabriel steered the whole process and took on chores that would have stopped me dead in my tracks. He worked magic with old photos and documents, bringing them to life again. He is a master, an absolute delight, and indulged even the most minor tweaks I wanted to make.

The final book is nothing short of a masterpiece! A couple of nights ago, my husband and I invited my siblings over for dinner, followed by our “cleverly-choreographed” presentation of their copies of the book. There were copious tears from three very precious people in my life who were unaware of not only the treasure trove of writings Daddy left behind but also the creation of the book. Thank you, Legacy Book Publishing and Gabriel Vaughn, for an extraordinary family keepsake!
