We were fortunate to discover Amy through a referral from one of the parents at our son's former preschool. During Covid, we opted to homeschool for what would have been his kindergarten year. At 5 years old, he didn't have any letter sound recognition (he hated when I sang the alphabet!) so Amy's work with him began at a very remedial level.

They met together over Zoom twice weekly, and with Amy's guidance and expertise, he soon became proficient in letter sounds and could read simple words. After we moved halfway across the country and he started school, we cut his time with Amy to once per week. As I sit with my son during his sessions, I find myself learning as well! I never learned about the "why" certain letters go together, or may come at the end of a word. These tips and tricks have stuck with my son now to advance his reading skills beyond his current 3rd grade level. Not to mention his extensive vocabulary!

Amy's ability to hold our son's attention and interest over Zoom while teaching a deeper understanding of reading than he could ever learn in a classroom is such a gift! She is currently working with him on spelling skills so he can apply what he's learned about reading to the written word. Our son considers Amy a "buddy" and loves to share what's going on in his life with her. We are endlessly grateful to Amy for her absolutely priceless role in our son's education.
