I had a good experience first time I visited the Prince George’s County Memorial Library system, New Carrolton Branch. The Librarian Ms, Adrienne was very nice and welcoming. I was able to take a quick tour of the facility. Right then and there I made up my mind to start using the facility which I did the next day. I was having problems printing out my reading materials. The guy and lady at the front desk were so helpful. They helped me sort it out in a timely manner and they were patient with me. And also, getting my library card was seamless. The library is fully stocked with a large selection of books, it’s quiet, very neat and tidy. The amenities includes the snack and drink vending machine, fax machine, print room, study room. I highly recommend if you need a neat and quiet library to study.

Absolutely lovely library. However, the elderly librarian at the front should consider retirement. I've never seen a librarian slam things on a table and act almost belligerent.

Always been a solid library since I was a kid, study rooms are definitely a good place to focus, and the book selection always has pretty recent releases as well. Staff are kind, been here since I was 8 years old and I'm still coming here as a college student, now 20. Thank you staff 🙂

Great library, especially for kids! They have multiple Storytimes throughout the week (half hour of reading books, singing songs, and nursery rhymes), a fun play room, and a huge children's book section. All the librarians are great, but Mr. James deserves a special shout-out. He really puts his heart into his work, and it shows.

Incredibly clean and quiet facility! There's lots of space to set up your laptop, and there are many work stations to access as well. The staff are all friendly and incredibly knowledgeable to help you find what you are looking for. I come mostly to study and there are many areas that make studying really easy!

This library is incredibly unfriendly to children, or should I say, the librarian in charge of the children's section is incredibly unfriendly to children. From repeated shushes when our 1 year old made noises, to multiple librarians reminding you to pull your mask up to your nose when they keep the library at 85 degrees in the winter, it is simply ridiculous.

To cap it off, my wife and I run a daycare for children with disabilities. Upon entering with all adults and our own children wearing proper masks, the children's librarian accosted some of the children in our care about wearing masks. When I explained to her that they have physical and intellectual disabilities, which mind you are clearly visible, she said she needed more information.

What does this librarian need? Notes from a doctor about breathing issues? To see confidential medical records about why children who use crutches for mobility and have breathing issues shouldn't wear masks? Not to mention the fact that we go at a time when no other people are in the section.

It is simply ridiculous. I requested to speak with a manager, and she eventually angrily shoved her masks back under the desks.

We will never return to this library and I would recommend you not either. They do not care about meeting the needs of the most fragile members of our community.

Avoid at all costs. Go to Silver Spring, Hyattsville, or Greenbelt. They have librarians who seem genuinely interested in helping care for children.
