Recently I purchased "The Lying Stones of Marrakech" by
Author: Gould, Stephen Jay. Nighttown Book's own description of this book is as follows:
"THIS TITLE NOW REDUCED 20% UNTIL DECEMBER 31! Beautiful Easton Press Limited First Edition #1548 of 1650 copies SIGNED by Stephen Jay Gould to limitation page, in gilt-stamped red-brown full leather binding with 5 raised spine hubs, all page edges gilt, moire fabric endsheets & satin ribbon marker bound-in, author notesheet & COA laid in, a pristine new Gift Quality copy!; 8vo; 372pp, indexed"

Unfortunately, as you can see from the attached pictures taken seconds after I unwrapped it that the leatherbound book is in poor condition due to some dark substance being ingrained on the leather on the front cover. Thus, contrary to their promise that the book was a "pristine new Gift Quality copy", the book cannot ever be resold in its condition. I asked for a store credit of a percentage off the book and the bookseller declined. Rather than giving me a store credit, they are requiring me to go to a post office send the book back, which is time consuming, especially when I sent them the pictures showing that the front cover was soiled and I cannot see how they could have a defense to that. I will never been purchasing books from this establishment again. - Fred Shahrooz-Scampato, Esquire
