When it time for preparing college applications, I knew how important it is & how it would affect my son’s future. I had choices between Michael or few others companies that also has a pretty good review but the reason I picked Michael was he handles whole process ~ from preparing SAT to submitting the applications ~ by himself and only takes 12 students a year, so I knew it will be very personalized and he would be able to pay close attention to my son. To start, communication was super easy, as he always responds very promptly and as he starts to work with my son, he always gives a clear update on what is going on. SAT went very well. My son was at the top 1%, scoring 1530. Next came the real deal; preparing ~ I mean really put out the plans for the following months. This is very important step which you should start as early as possible so there won’t be any missteps. Michael was able to come up with a few ideas and recognize my son’s true potential which brought him to a huge success. Final result: early acceptance to Columbia University of New York. I couldn’t be any happier about choosing Michael. The whole process was a breeze. I knew my son has a qualification for the top colleges, but without Michael the outcome probably won't be the same.

Michael is diligent in his work, catering his tutoring style to the diverse needs of every student. Although he was primarily helping me with my college transfer applications, Michael had no problem going the extra mile when I said I needed help with editing my resume, applying for internships, and writing scholarship essays. His years of experience allowed him to not only assist me with the technicals of every applications, but also provide insightful advice about the nature of my target schools, ultimately helping me with my overall decision.

Three years ago, Mike assisted my daughter with her college essay--got her first choice college with 50% merit aid and her essay was the only one published in her high school literary magazine. This fall, he guided my son through the essay writing process, finding an unusual personal topic where my son's qualities could shine. The result was an incredible thoughtful piece that has blown away every adult who has seen it. Mike also raised his sights above his high school's recommendations, encouraging him to apply to more challenging universities. My son was admitted to his first choice college in early decision, ahead of several friends with better academic records. Also notable is how well he communicates with parents, his straightforward billing and how painless he makes the process for parent and student. Now he going to help my son solidify his writing process before he starts college.

With Michael's help I was able to navigate the difficult college process (through COVID) with as little stress as possible. He truly went above and beyond with guiding me through this journey; he was always available, kind, and honest and I was always assured that my essays were going to be to the highest standard. This year was particularly hard to get into college, but Michael stayed hopeful and invested the entire time. I truly felt cared about and supported even after college decisions came out. I got a couple of amazing scholarship offers, and was accepted into Northeastern University. These opportunities were – I believe – achievable largely due to Michael's assistance. As a former student of Mike, I truly believe that he is one of the reasons why I have a strong writing and analytic foundation today. I began with Mike in 2012 as ninth grader, with consistent tutoring sessions throughout high school. From teaching me how to methodically write and structure an essay about Hemingway’s Grapes of Wrath, meticulously reading and summarizing challenging NY Times articles in order sharpen my analytic and vocab skills, and to writing a plethora of 50 worded admission essays for Brown University, Mike’s tenacity is what truly grew and expanded my intellect as a student. During my tenure at UC Davis, I reached out to Mike several times. He had assisted me with some college transfer applications and composing its essays. Despite being somewhat unfamiliar with the transfer application process at the time, Mike worked tirelessly with me as we diligently navigated through these applications. Even though I already gone through the college application process as a senior in high school with Mike the previous year, I did appreciate his aid again when I applied for a transfer as a freshman in college. After observing his methods to pay close attention to detail as he acquainted himself with this new application, I have since incorporated such methods into my daily life with successfully outcomes. Mike’s challenging reading materials is to teach techniques on how to decompose an article or a book into understandable terms, provoking deep thoughts in his students while expanding their vocabulary and public speaking skills. In addition, he has strategies for his students on how to form concise sentences that expand into material paragraphs, and then grow into substantive essays. He helps a student recognize what a question is asking and how to directly answer it in the most succinct way. As a work professional a year out of college, I am still using analytic approaches and paragraph structures that Mike instilled me years ago. Mike is not just a tutor. He’s a hard-working advocate for his students, who genuinely wants to see them to succeed. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me.

One of the most unassuming tutors I’ve come across in my academic career, Mike has a natural talent in guiding students through the college/graduate application process. There is a great deal of authenticity in his teaching approach; he is one of the few tutors who practices what he preaches. Should his own tools and tips not work for his students, he easily adapts, taking time out to learn about his students before formulating alternative methods.
