The Book Loft

Quaint and very unique bookstore that also houses the Hans Christian Andersom museum. The first floor of the store has a unique Scandinavian themed section, a large and wonderful children's section and nook for board games and puzzles. The second floor has the old and used books selection and the annexed museum. Appropriate and helpful staff are around the respective counters. This is one of the places that you need to visit when you come to Solvang.

Great bookstore. The bottom level are new books. The second floor is where you will find the treasures in a variety of tops in old hardcover books in good condition.

Great selection! The new releases, general fiction, Nordic sections were well rounded and easy enough to spot hot titles and classics. There's also a nice gift and novelty book section. A wonderful bookstore I didn't make it to the used books (for the sake of my wallet) but my friend said it was really cool up there.

This place is amazing. I felt like I just walk into my childhood dream. There is a room upstairs with a lady sitting and drawing in that room. Her art pieces are AMAZING!!! The first floor are full of card games, games, new books. The second floor are a small museum and old books. Very cool place for visitors!

A profound craving for puff pastries and Danish-themed architecture took fanatic hold on my soul, so the only reasonable destination was Solvang, California. Delightful little town, with an absolute jewel of a bookshop, The Book Loft! I stood exterior of the shop nibbling the finale of my sweet pastries, and once the last crumb was savored I wiped my paws upon my corduroy trousers and stepped inside its doors. Gorgeous! I found my way to upper level, where the used books are housed, and to my great excitation, I found a superfluous number of P. G. Wodehouse titles. “‘Sblood!” I spouted, with a wild look in my eye and a raging tempest in my soul. Wonderful book store. Cozy, creamy, well-stocked.

Lovely selection of new and used titles, with a great California section, nice history shelf, and tons of fiction. Hans Christian Anderson museum upstairs! Friendly and helpful staff.

While walking out of the store, a heavy book fell on me. It my head and my shoulder, causing pain. When another patron told the worker at the register about what happened, all she said was, “thank you” even though the other patron explicitly said that I was hit and in pain. The worker was not attentive or any bit apologetic. She didn’t even look at me, but kept staring at the register. I understand that it could have been busy, but the least a patron would expect is an apology. Other customers looked at me in shock when it happened, but the worker paid no attention. Please train your workers to acknowledge guests when accidents happen. This was not a great experience.

I felt very at home. Used books, very nice! Seating, very nice! Kids section, very nice! Floor creaking often, but adds to ancient feeling that makes me overjoyed. Definitely check out the small displays in the back of the 2nd floor, so neat!
