Untapped learning was such a wonderful way to have my child stay on top of his homework and life tasks without me having to constantly bug him. As a result, not only did Untapped Learning assist my child with organization, grades, and managing homework and life it also very much allowed me to be a Mom during High school years instead of being a nagging Mom. It improved my relationship with my son and gave him confidence as well. He enjoyed having me separate from schoolwork and I benefited as well. I can't say enough about the staff. So responsible, kind and able to look at students as who they are as a whole and match their mentors accordingly! I'm so grateful them.

We were introduced to Untapped by a friend and neighbor after our daughter’s freshman year of high school, and it has been a game-changer. What started as us needing to remind her about sessions quickly turned into her managing her own schedule with her mentor, staying on top of responsibilities, and growing into a confident, independent student.

It takes a caring village to raise our children, and Untapped Learning is a profound addition to our village!
As a therapist and school counselor for over 25 years, I witness first-hand the progress my students and clients make with structured and caring support from their mentors at Untapped.
Many of the students I know entered the program having struggled to find success as learners because of challenges with focus and organization and felt discouraged and anxious about their future abilities in school. Over several weeks, these teens connected with a mentor who could offer a new approach. Through an authentic and caring relationship, mentors were able to steadily partner with students to: build a framework for organizing work, help hone writing and math skills, and suggest strategies for learning a new language. Accountability is woven into the program since mentors have access to student's grades and class outlines; and mid-week check-in's help students re-focus or make adjustments to their week's work.
Another facet of the program I love is that mentors truly incorporate a holistic approach into their work with students--helping students identify current passions and interests and trying new extracurricular activities, knowing that becoming a stronger learner is only part of the picture. Teenagers may often put their own self-care at the bottom of the list--so another strength of this program is mentors helping teens brainstorm ways to build in self-care, get proper amounts of sleep, and handle the inevitable stressors that come up.
Finally, the parent-student-mentor partnership is honored throughout a family's time with Untapped. Parents I work with welcome the detailed updates from mentors, and they are always encouraged to share successes, questions, or challenges that may come up as the school year unfolds. For many parents, extricating themselves from the "nightly homework battle," allows for more quality, enjoyable time with their child.
Untapped Learning is more than a simple tutoring program. Through caring relationships and skillful support, children and teens really end up building life skills: identifying their unique and varied strengths, reaching out for help from their circle of support when they need it, nurturing relationships, consistently incorporating self-care into their life, and challenging themselves to reach new goals because they believe in themselves!

I’ve been amazed since my first visit to Untapped Learning with how genuine the focus is always first and foremost on every student’s spirit, individuality, and self-worth. Brandon Slade and his team not only know their stuff, but they work so very hard to adapt their knowledge to each individual to help each student become life-long learners and happy adults.
