Comments on my experience with Savvy publishers:

I recently wrote a book on planning theory and published it with Savvy Publishers. Their editing was excellent, considering that I had a great variety of chapters, text and graphics. My communication with Isaac Levine and Zach Francis during the process was excellent since their responses showed a clear understanding of the approach of the book. They made significant recommendations that resulted in an excellent product. They corrected many graphic and textual problems. As an author I am very satisfied and enthusiastic with the result, and the way Savvy responded to my queries. They were very responsive, helpful and the whole process was very efficient and quick.

I have one word for you: RUN!

My experience has been horrific. I know some people leave bad reviews because somebody made them mad or they’re just vengeful. I’m not mad so much as I am frustrated and disappointed.

I was so proud to have a book published. When I chose this company, I was promised the moon. I was promised thorough editing. Didn’t happen. I was promised developmental editing to enhance my work. Didn’t happen. I was promised a laundry list of things and none of it happened.

My work, after being “edited” often came back to me for approval with more grammar and punctuation and spelling errors than I sent it to them with. I ended up fixing their mistakes instead of them fixing mine. It should be noted that the person you speak with when you call, speaks fluent English. It is clear, after speaking with the editors myself, that they do not. English is either their second or third language. They don’t understand American slang. For example, in my book, there was a line where I said “I’m serious as a heart attack.” It was changed to “I had a serious heart attack.”

I can not stress enough what a nightmare it has been to work with Savvy. As I said in an email to them, they misspelled “Savvy.” It should be “Shawty.”

TOTAL INCOMPETENCE and I would NEVER use them. Take my word for it or you will be sorry. You’ve been warned.

Savvy Book Marketing published my cartoon book. It wasn’t your typical book since there was very little written copy, mostly black & white cartoons. It seemed like a new experience for all of us, so there were a few glitches to be worked out. In spite of all that, the final product is a beautiful book which is lovely to hold and read. Customers at my book launch commented on that aspect, plus the good quality of the paper and binding. There were some delays in production, but again, the final product was worth waiting for.
All staff I dealt with were kind and were doing the best they could, even as we were faced with some technical difficulties. They made every effort to clear up any issue that arose.
I’m very happy with my book and after selling out 150 in a week and a half, I ordered 100 more copies!

I would like to say this company is nothing more than helpful and personable. They made the process for a first time author, worth every moment. They answered every question that I had and didn't make me feel stupid for asking so many questions! I want to give a huge shout out to Michael for being a great guide and manager of the project. If I could rate no stars I would. I don't even know how this company is a company to begin with. They do not stick to what they promise and they are VERY unprofessional. The sales people are very good at their job and make it sound like you're going to be their first priority, which never happens. They make it as if their mistakes that they do are your fault, after paying almost $1,000 for simple editing skills. A complete joke. Save your energy and money and find another publishing company!!
