Angela was highly recommended to us and it was a great experience for our daughter. Angela is demanding of the student, sets high standards and guides the student to achieve a great outcome.

Our daughter, while hardworking and capable, was not consistent in her practice scoring. After a few lessons with Angela she improved significantly and had a strong score. Angela has a very specific system and process by which she tackles the problems and helps the student focus on the problem. She helps the students set a high bar for themselves and motivates them to reach it.

Angela is probably the most organized tutor I have ever encountered, which makes learning go by very efficiently. Her goal is to make you the best test taker as fast and as thoroughly as possible, and I'd say her methods succeed in doing just that. She does not like to waste anyone's time, and so she will be very straight-up with her students, which I viewed as a positive because it helped me to quickly identify what I needed to work on. She is also very good at creating achievable goals for her students by accounting for the pupil's opinion as well as her own on what they can accomplish. Overall, if you want to be taught efficiently and thoroughly, I highly recommend Angela.

I could not have gotten my college essays to the quality they are now without Angela's help. Her feedback, both in our weekly meetings and offline essay reviews, was always helpful because she was specific about what she wanted to see in my writing and why. I would never have noticed some of the problems Angela pointed out in my writing by reading over my essays on my own.

I noticed another review mentioning that Angela's tutoring requires a lot of work to be effective, which I wholeheartedly agree with. If you are looking for someone who will essentially write your essay for you, that is not what you will find with Angela. However, the work you put in is worth it. After applying Angela's feedback, I can see that my voice shines through in my writing and I feel confident in my essays. If you want polished essays that give admissions officers a feel for who you are, and you are willing to put the work in, then I highly recommend Angela.

Angela Sun was simply amazing and is worth every dollar spent! She truly is the best of what she does; parents think they are smart but Angela teaches all the tips and tricks to succeed. We started with Angela at the end of sophomore year heading into junior year, continuing through the college application process. Angela provided college counseling guidance, ACT prep, and essay writing coaching; the latter two were where the bulk of the time was spent.

For college counseling, she helped my daughter evaluate the different schools, ensuring that we had the right combination of reach, inline, and safety schools. Ideally, we would have started much earlier in the process since Angela focuses on the content to tell your child’s story but will with my second child.

Regarding the ACT, she was phenomenal. If you do one thing with Angela, it truly is her ACT prep. She brought my daughter up 7 POINTS, achieving a top 1% on the test. Angela helps with timing since ACT is much faster paced than the SAT. Also, there were certain math problems that were not really taught in high school that she reviewed with her. Finally, she taught my daughter about patterns in questioning with the reading section so she would know what to look for and how to correctly answer the question.

Toward the end of junior year, the focus was on essay writing. She taught my daughter to tell her unique story, a story that cannot be replicated by anyone else. She helped her tell that story through her academic and extracurricular achievements. Since my daughter is more STEM than English, she guided her to be concise, not repetitive in hitting her key points. Finally, she had a three-draft technique to get to a phenomenal essay. It worked!

My daughter got accepted to USC, UMich, UFlorida Honors College, Clemson Honors, Georgia and many other schools that were on her target list. Angela deserves the accolades that many of the reviews tout. She’s simply that good!

Angela is an experienced and result-oriented tutor who is knowledgeable about tips to help raise SAT/ACT scores. She helped our child in high school. Her sessions and homework required effort, focus and financial commitment. But it was certainly worth it for the score gains, and help provided to break through weak areas. Angela and Brian are Ace ACT tutors. First they work with your students to see whether ACT or SAT is the best match for them. Then they progressively work with the student to help them understand their mistakes and have the student develop a tip sheet along the way. I expect that every student will improve their scores working with Angela or Brian as our children did.
For college consulting, Angela is laser focused. She helps develop a plan for the student and holds the student accountable for the deliverables. As in any consulting/teaching, the student will get more benefit if they put in extra effort outside the sessions.
Our son connected very well with Brian and his mellower approach. Our daughter responded well to Angela.
